Loda Shaw: Midpoints
Aug 8 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm
During the early 1980’s, as transiting Neptune and Uranus moved thru Sagittarius, Tropical astrologers were exposed to a variety of different techniques from diverse branches of astrology. Part of this was due to Astro Computing Service which, for a small fee, would calculate any type of chart and mail it for next day arrival. This service (pre-home computers) gave astrologers the opportunity to experiment with every technique imaginable.
The study of Midpoints, revised by Alfred Witte and further refined by Reinhold Ebertin is one such technique which the computing service made easier to experiment without calculation drudgery. Midpoints are simply the point half way between two planets. If the midpoint is “occupied” by a natal or transiting planet by degree and minute, we can find subtle issues that come to the surface bringing with it depth of meaning that is not contained within the natal planet. The study of Midpoints can add insight which you may be missing in better understand issues reflected in charts.
Come out to hear astrologer Loda Shaw, simplify this often overlooked but highly useful technique that will add depth and insight to your natal chart reading.
Loda has been involved with the study and teaching of astrology for 30 years. While a student athlete at Ohio University, he became curious about the subject of astrology. A “chance” meeting with a practicing astrologer in New York City during spring break took him from the curiosity stage to becoming a student in one fell swoop. That fascination with the stellar science has motivated Loda to teach and lecture on the many different techniques.
Loda’s achievements include the following: Together with Judy Johns, co-founder of the Los Angeles-based ‘Round Art’ astrology group in 2001; regular contributor to Aquarius Magazine on sports and astrology; popular lecturer on many issues, i.e.,Saturn cycles, relocation, solar returns, and progressions and transits. Loda currently serves as Publicity Director on the SDAS Board of Directors. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of Phoenix and currently lives and practices the craft of astrology in Oceanside, California.
