March Cask Night - Lightning's Fair Weather Pale Ale

Tired of IPA's? Tired of really hoppy beers? Let's bring it down a notch and have a UK-Style Pale Ale. This beer is meant to be less hops and more malt. The hops that are in the beer give it a much more earthy flavor than the citrus flavor you might be used to in San Diego and on the West Coast. Lightning's Fair Weather Pale Ale is this month's Cask! The Coaster will be selling the Ale for $4.00 a pint.

For more info on Lightning, visit their website:

Here are the details of Fair Weather Pale Ale:

One of our founding beers, the Fair Weather Pale Ale is a crowd-pleaser with special appeal to fans of well-crafted UK-style IPAs. Medium-bodied with a light, smooth carbonation, Fair Weather is pale and malty with a bold continental hop and yeast character, closing with a clean and slightly bitter tang. A great session beer, Fair Weather is also the perfect choice at BBQs as well as hearty sit-down dinners.

To achieve our artistic goal of creating a lighter, maltier version of a UK-style IPA, we lighten up the malt to prevent it from overpowering the UK-strains of hops. We chose hops from the United Kingdom and Europe. because they impart a grassy and earthy character, rather than a citrus or pine flavor. The differences in hops flavors derive from the soils and environments that generate them. Both craft beer enthusiasts and those new to craft beer.

ALC. BY VOL. 5.5%

Anyone that has been to the Coaster before knows that they have a fairly good selection of craft beer from all over the place. Darren has just installed a new 20 tap system in addition to the 40 tap system that is already there. That gives you over 50 possible options for beer. As always, the Coaster has plenty of good food (some with beer ingredients) that will help with the soaking of the good beer you will be drinking. Come out, mingle, and have lots of fun with other craft brew lovers.

This will be at the Coaster Saloon in the Patio area. Bring a jacket or warm clothes, the beach can get a little cold at night. Especially right now in San Diego. Parking is across the street at the Belmont Park parking lot. See you all there!
