Cask Night - Coronado Islander IPA "dry hopped" with Starburst Candy

Yes, you read it correctly, this one I had to do a double take.  There is no way someone uses Starburst candy to dry hop a beer.  Well, there is and we are drinking it.  I once had a Gummy Bear beer out in North Carolina, so I'm curious what this one will taste like.  Come on down and try this interesting concoction with lots of friends and have some great conversation.  Pints are sold for $4.

Here are the details of Islander IPA:

Named after Coronado Island, our original India Pale Ale is a liquid expression of hometown pride. Centennial, Chinook and Columbus hops combine to provide an explosive burst of piney bitterness and luscious notes of apricot, grapefruit and mango that are sure to evoke imagery of swaying palms and sun-kissed shores.

Anyone that has been to the Coaster before knows that they have a fairly good selection of craft beer from all over the place.  Darren has just installed a new 20 tap system in addition to the 40 tap system that is already there.  That gives you over 50 possible options for beer.  As always, the Coaster has plenty of good food (some with beer ingredients) that will help with the soaking of the good beer you will be drinking.  Come out, mingle, and have lots of fun with other craft brew lovers.

This will be at the Coaster Saloon in the Patio area.  Bring a jacket or warm clothes, the beach can get a little cold at night.  Parking is free and across the street at the Belmont Park parking lot.  See you all there!

How's was the beer? Did you taste the Starburst one?

I ended up having two pints from the cask - which apparently the taste for me was tolerable enough for my (ABV) palate. All in all, it was indeed a fun time!

For me, this is a must-try. I've been thinking of experimenting with "candy beer" (think Red Vines Imperial Stout, Hot Tamales IPA, etc.).

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
