Dime Stories — 3-Minute Prose

Love to write? Of course you do. Like to perform? That's a rhetorical question. Want to share your stories with other writers? Why am I even asking?

Dime Stories are 3-minutes stories (prose, not poetry) read by the author. They’re funny. They’re heart-rending. Fictional or factual, they’re always true.

Bring your Dime Story to read to a live audience at any of our open mics.

Beware: Three-minute rule (that’s about 500 words) is strictly enforced.

$5.00 donation at the door is very much appreciated.

Some of us were talking about going out after Dimestories next month. There's a bar/restaurant right across the street.

How about we all spend a few minutes helping David clean up and then go have a drink or whatever?

I'll post a reminder a few days before the next meeting.

    Anybody interested?

Thank you once again to everyone for coming out and sharing your stories. It's always a pleasure to see our regular readers and always a thrill to hear new ones. I especially loved hearing the Mother's Day themed stories.

As luck would have it, next month's DimeStories falls on Friday the 13th so let's hear your stories of bad luck and curses!

Until then, storytellers, keep those words a-flowin'!

Working late this evening; if I can make it in time I will certainly try. If not, I'll be just as excited for next time!!

Oh my god! DimeStories is tomorrow! I'm so excited I think I just peed myself!

Feel free to pee yourselves, as well.

Sorry, my inspiring monthly playmates -- I regret to inform I can't make it this Friday as I will be presenting the keynote address at the Platt College commencement.

I hope to manage to find at least 3 minutes of content (perhaps more!) to share with these bright young students, though I suspect they'd just as soon satisfy themselves with 180 seconds of my "wisdom". At the very least, should I hear recorded applause (not to mention crickets!), I'll know what to do.

    See y'all next month!

No excuses! Tell Platt College to reschedule!

I keed, of course. Break a leg or a lung or whatever the hell we're supposed to say to Keynote Speakers. Knock 'em ready, Bernie!

This is my first event, is it ok that I observe without presenting?

Reading is not required, April. We'll be happy to have you there!

Bernie, just include a typical 3 minute piece in your keynote. They'll love it.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
