The FundingPost: http://www.fundingpost.com is hosting another event in  San Diego where you can meet (and even pitch) potential investors for your business.

The first 30 entrepreneurs/small business owners to sign up and pay will have the option to formally pitch (in 60 seconds or less) in front of the accredited investors and audience in a similar fashion to the TV show called "Shark Tank". It is more of a pitch competition with a winner selected by our investor panel and a winner selected by the audience utilizing real-time web polling.

Along with the pitch competition, there is an educational and networking component to the event. All attendees will be gaining an understanding of what investors are looking for in the San Diego market and what our entrepreneurs are building. All attendees will be able to market themselves (including their products and/or services) throughout the event through networking with one another.

The panel/investors for the event include:

Jack J. Florio, Angel Investor
Bob Fried, Board Member and Investor, Tech Coast Angels
Brad Shoen, Angel Investor
Afif Khoury, Managing Member, Scatter Ventures
Damon D'Amore, Founder, WayFounder

The cost to attend and/or pitch is $49 per person. Here is the link

Please be careful. Events such as this constitute Felony as it is known as mixing & matching by SEC enforcement..... a giant 506 advertisement. IE, acting as a broker/dealer without a license. Ad to that, most of the companies pitching have not registered, nor have a PPM, so there is a count of non-registered securities. In addition, the audience and the company likely do not have a prior relationship, so that's another count on solicitation. If there is no suitability or not all in the audience are accredited, there are two more counts.

Are the companies in the pitch getting into valuations? How about showing the documentation the companies are required to sign to present? Further, It is also a 10B-5 Violation as you are acting as a brokerage firm (versus self issuer ) without a license – and marketing “securities” in this manner breaches various criminal and state laws first and a number of federal laws second – not to mention you have no exemption and it's far worse if you have undisclosed fee’s and finder fee’s – conducting a blatently illegal unregistered public security offering with no sanction or exemption. The sentence of Kevin Tradau to ten years in prison denotes how absent any sense of humor is from the consumer protectiong view point once this all reaches a court of law. Regulatory agencies will give sufficeint rope to assure the hang man’s noose does not break in the long fall.

There are too many good people in this group. I don't believe they should be subjected to negligence.

This is strictly an educational event. The pitches do not get into valuations and there are no finder fees. The investor panel coach the entrepreneurs on how to improve their communication skills as entrepreneurs. If an investor and entrepreneur want to develop a working relationship after the event then it is totally up to them. You have not attended one of our events and so I understand how there can be confusion.

From the last FundingPost event in San Diego, I observed at least 3 concepts that piqued the interest of the potential investors...and I saw one Entrepreneur chase/follow an potential investor down the elevator. The review panel provided some very good feedback. The setting provided by the Irvine Company and Sponsors, Legal -Business and IP, Patent Attorneys was great! One guy was a serial investor that, according to him invests if it "feels good" and he's been very successful with his investments, to the tune of concepts, combined, sold for over $300M, I recall from memory.
