Hello! My name is Dr. Michelle Dexter, and I am a psychologist, educator, and coach. I am also an ex-Mormon. Although I have pioneer ancestors and my family has been devout in following the church, I became disillusioned, and left the church for good in 2003. I created this group because I would like to help other ex-Mormons and former members of other religions heal remaining wounds inflicted by churches. I'd like to help you create a new life-affirming and joy-affirming identity as an ex-Mormon or other ex-church member. This group is for all of us who have left the Mormon church or other churches and who want to find support and healing as we move forward in creating new identities for ourselves. We have sustained many losses in our leaving—our culture, our friends, our faith, and for many of us, our families. There is power in our stories. Through telling our stories and having them heard in a meaningful, supportive way, we move our healing forward. Each meeting will include a group discussion and group healing intervention, including powerful emotional release techniques to resolve stuck emotions. Please note that this group is for people who have left the Mormon church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) and other churches. It is not for people who wish to defend churches or who wish to influence members of this group to return. I'm looking forward to having you! Michelle
