We'll meet at the Shelter Island beach (see map) and paddle out to Point Loma Lighthouse. We will be getting out into a bit of open ocean as well. After our trip out to the point we'll paddle back to Mitch's seafood for an early lunch which is located on the backside of Shelter Island. We will launch at 8 am.
What to expect: As we head out towards the mouth of the bay boat traffic will increase as will chop and tidal swells. This trip will be approximately 9 to 10 miles and we will try to maintain an average speed of 3 mph. Below is a link to Mitch's Seafood in case anyone is curious about the lunch location on the paddle. If anyone isn't interested in going to lunch their welcome to do the paddle only and the mileage will be more like 7.5 miles. The lunch stop will be at the very end of the paddle and anyone can stop at our launch location on the way back and skip the lunch option, but it is good food if you like seafood.

Ok here is the premier of the long awaited and anticipated video, PADDLE to the Point III "around the bend". Ha Ha
It is kind of fun though, 14 minutes long with some good music.

THAT was one great paddle! We got out past the point and around the other side. Once we actually got out the chop mellowed and it was heaven! We were out further than the surfers and so we could see them from behind.
