Monthly Meeting: San Diego Politics

****UPDATE**** - for our next meeting, the author himself, Professor Steve Erie will be joining us for our discussion!

Hi Everyone!  Tip O'Neill once said that "All politics is local" and for next month we will be focusing on San Diego politics political history for a change.  It's a topic that I'm not particularly well versed in (sadly) but I do know of the go to book for the occasion -

Paradise Plundered: Fiscal Crisis and Governance Failures in San Diego

http://www.amazon.com/Paradise-Plundered-Fiscal-Governance-Failures/dp/0804756031

Written by my colleagues from the UCSD political science department, Professor Steve Erie, Vladimir Kogan (currently a professor at Ohio State University) and Scott MacKenzie (a professor at UC Davis).  I know them all personally and they are all very very smart people.

We will be assigning only one book for next month, but in keeping with last month's reading, I'll be looking for articles and features on local governance, which I'll update this post with.

See you all next month!

Best,

Neil
