Monthly Meeting Topic: The Conservative Movement and Mind

Hi all! Next month we will be looking at conservatism from two angles: Psychologically and institutionally. For the phsychology, please read EITHER of two books by Chris Mooney: (1) "The Republican Brain: The Science of Why They Deny Science--and Reality" (http://www.amazon.com/The-Republican-Brain-Science-Science/dp/1118094514), or (2) "The GOP War On Science," (http://www.amazon.com/The-Republican-Science-Chris-Mooney/dp/B000WCNU44/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1340921226&sr=1-1&keywords=republican+war+on+science).

For the conservative movement itself, read "It’s Even Worse Than It Looks, by Ornstein and Mann (http://www.amazon.com/Even-Worse-Than-Looks-Constitutional/dp/0465031331). I'm looking forward to this interesting and increasingly important discussion.

Of course, three books is meant to give us choices, not to require people to read three books for one meeting.
