San Diego Mini Maker Faire (The BIG DAY!)

Come and join us for the day San Diego has been waiting for - the first ever SAN DIEGO MINI MAKER FAIRE! We're expecting over 75 exhibitors and thousands of guests. Come see what great things makers from SoCal and Tijuana are putting together. We'll also have hands-on activities for kids (and kids at heart).

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at http://sdmf.eventbrite.com/

Are you interested in showing off what you make at a booth? Space is still available for great makers and vendors, but you better act fast! You can fill out our exhibitor application on http://sandiegominimakerfaire.org/call-for-makers/exhibitor-application-form/

Well I went over there, standing in line for tickets was fun dodging rain showers.
The show was heavy on 3d printers and robotics , lots of Quad copters.
The Steam punk people also had a heavy presence. The only one of the bigger exhibits was the mechanical Giraffe.
I did not meet any others from the meet-up group.

Yes, the rain forced us to drop some of the larger stuff we had planned for the outdoor lot. This is a problem we will address next year. Were there any speicific larger exhibits you would like to see?

I was impressed by the Lego presence at the San Mateo faire. It would be great if we had medical, veterinarian and science exhibits from Sea World, SD Zoo, Scripps, biotech firms, Permaculture, survivalists and more local makers. I also think a funding booth to share Kickstarter and others. More schools and colleges. find radio stations willing to broadcast from the SDMMF.

Bequi, we really owe you and your team for sharing your experience; it allowed us to put on an X year event the very first year.

The rain dampened it down more than somewhat

It really did. But you know what? If it hadn't rained, imagine how many more people would have come? The crowd's might have been more than we could manage! Next year, we will have to plan for a LOT more people and hope for better weather.

This was fantastic. Just amazing. For a first year effort, just wow. Very proud. Credit to the board: Travis, Katie, Michael, and Thanasi (I typed that without looking it up!) and to all the volunteers! Also OC MMF leadership is due thanks for lending us their experience; it allowed us to put on an X year show the first year. I'm actually not really too burned out (of course I didn't do that much either!) I'm already looking forward to the next one, and to all the other educational opportunities that have come out of this.

Awesome event, I come not well prepare but so many people come to my table. I got more than 100 people signed up for my product mailing list. Thanks so much for great works from Travis and all the organizers.

very awesome. Hat's off to the planners and those who moved it all indoors so we could enjoy geekness, dry!
Next year, four times bigger, way better food, and more interactive things for kids!

The price was reasonable, and there were some really interesting displays.

The exhibits were very interesting and fascinating. The presenters were very enthusiastic. The venue was a little dark and noisy for my aging eyes and ears.

Is this group meeting anywhere or is this an ad for the event?

    1 · December 6, 2013

    • Mark

This is the event itself - though I'm sure you'll see people from the MeetUp everywhere you turn!

Quadcopters, robots, 3D printers, Thor's hammer (Mjölnir)! I may have seen to many Marvel movies.

    November 5, 2013

  • Travis G.

I'm looking forward to being inspired. Seeing wondrous creations. Encountering fabulous ideas. Hearing inspiring speakers. And watching spectacles of robots and hacked bicycles and hand-made go-carts and more. It's going to be fantastic!

    1 · November 5, 2013

  • James N.

I am REALLY looking forward to this! It's going to be great... Quadcopters flying around, a huge robot giraffe, gobs of educational opportunities (learn to solder a cool little bling badge, make a self watering planter to start growing food or flowers, lessons in digital logic, art, craft, robots, you name it!). We can MAKE!
