We take Willow Creek Trail for 2 miles, through Skunk Cabbage Meadow and cross over Willow Creek, pick up Laws Trail, cross over Willow Creek again, and hike about into Laws Camp. Break for lunch. At Laws Junction we take Tahquitz Valley Trail and hike for another 1.6 miles through Reeds Meadow to Tahquitz Meadow, and back to the Saddle, then down the Slide.

CARPOOLS ENCOURAGED-post a comment if you want to carpool and where you'll meet. It takes me about 1 3/4 hr to drive from OB to the TH

From San Diego: 15N exit at Temecula Parkwy (79 S) turn R: at the Junction with 371 turn L towards Indio/Palm Springs/Anza: you will come to the 74 turn L and continue to Mountain Center and turn R 243 to Idyllwild

once in town turn on Pinecrest R and go to the stop sign. once thru the intersection turn L on Fern Valley and follow the signs to Humber park.

You need an adverure pass to park here. they are 5$ at any sporting good store in San Diego

there is a bathroom at the TH but no water

don't forget in the mountains plan on any weather so layers are good. hat, sunblock, potty bags and snacks

I have the wilderness permit for the group

It was one of the most beautiful hikes I have ever been on. Thank you Leanne for this hike. We all had a wonderful time.

A great day on the mountain, total pleasure meeting Leanne's family. Had a great time and the dogs did too. good water flow in the creeks made it nice for the dogs too.

Hey Leanne - I may be participating in Walk for Wishes on Saturday (won't know until Friday around lunchtime). If I'm not, would Friday afternoon be too late to sign up for this hike?

I can't hike very fast and need frequent sit down breaks. Can I trail behind you guys? Or do you not reccommend this for me?

Maria, this really isn't the trail for someone who is more of a beginner. It is steep the first 2.5 miles and while the rest of it isn't real much G/L of elevation it is a bit over 8000ft elevation. try Iron Mtn, Cowles, Elfin forest before tackeling this one.
