Photoshop: The Power of Layer Masks - Part 2

  • Feb 12, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • Photographic Arts Building - Balboa Park

By overwhelming demand, we're going to delve deeply into the Power of Layer Masks, Part 2.

This is a continuation of Part 1, held on Wednesday, January 8th - If you did not attend Part 1, I'd encourage you to still attend - There will be a 15 minute review (with provided notes) before we dig into Part 2.

One of the beauties of Photoshop is the ability to make changes locally, not just globally.  Layer Masks are a powerful way to accomplish this, whether it is for contrast, color correction or sharpening .  Discover how to get started with this wonderful feature.

The cost to attend is $5 for this 105 minute Meetup, payable when you RSVP online.

A useful handout will be provided. Please note that in the interest of time, the focus will be on "Layer Masks", rather than other functions, tools, and concepts of Photoshop.

This low-cost workshop is designed primarily for those fairly new to Photoshop, but it is also a good "refresher" course in the basics for those with a bit more experience. As this presentation is in a “seminar” format (via a digital projector), bringing your laptop is NOT recommended, due to limited space and time (tablets OK).  Questions encouraged - I'll provide bottled water - Let's have some fun!

RSVP early, as we need to limit this to 40 people - We should finish by 8:45 PM at the absolute latest - See you there!

John Watts :-)

PS - If you have my Photoshop Book (also available as a downloadable PDF, as well as at the Meetup), you should bring it with you (rather than the provided notes), as we'll be working from sections within the book - and the pictures are in color in the book!

John had excellent explanations and demos of layer masks, but i was surrounded by 3 people in front of me that were talking and making comments and 2 women behind me that were eating and talking and it was extremely distracting and hard to hear. The audience needs to be better behaved.

I find Johns teaching style easy to follow. Also has great take home notes. See you next month.

As always John's presentation and handout provided me with the confidence to do things that I have always wondered "how did photo come to life." Look forward to more.

The class was great as always. But...there were two people who were very distracting by talking to each other and at a time when you were saying something important. It was rather annoying for me.

I'm crazy to think I can plan this far ahead and attend something for me to learn! I'm so sorry because I need the education so much. I ended up with a sports shoot that has a deadline, so I"m editing tonight. I was truly looking forward to it.

Sorry for the late daughter's car is in the shop and just found out it won't be ready tonight so I have to take her home. Wonderful class last time. Hope someone fills the spot.

Pardon my lack of knowledge on how to reserve seats I would like to bring someone with me and pay for their registration as well. How do I register a second person! Can't wait to learn more about Photoshop. I use it, yet my abilities are severely lacking.
