New Meetup Organizer! 08/12/2009
Hi Everyone, I took over this meetup group when the original organizer left without an explanation. Since this group has no history I am going to take it upon myself to make this a useful and meaningful meetup group for those who are interested in getting together and practicing their presentations in an open and comfortable environment.
What will happen at future meetups?
We will gather and select 2-3 people who would like to present their material and then everyone else will provide constructive criticism to enhance that person's presentation and public speaking.
What will the presentation be on?
Anything. There is no industry or topic of focus that your presentation must be on. The sole purpose of these meetups is to create a constructive environment where the audience sits back and possibly learns something new and then provides verbal and written feedback that is intended to improve the presentor's presentation.
Who is this meetup for?
Meetup organizers, salesman, small business owners, entrepreneurs, authors, public speakers, industry experts and so on... If you will ever be in a situation where you will have to present on a specific subject to a person or group of people and you are not Jeffrey Gitomer or Bernard Shaw or another really famous public speaker then this meetup is for you.
Not presenting? Then why should you come?
If you are not one of the presenters for the scheduled meetup then you should definitely be there to not only support and help your fellow peers, but to learn different techniques and strategies other people use that might be useful for your presentations. Seeing other people present can give you some great ideas on how to critique your own presentations. You also might learn some interesting stuff from who ever may be presenting.
Summary
By coming to these meetups you will benefit by getting constructive feedback on how to improve your presentations, you get to see other people present, and may learn a thing or two, and it is a great networking opportunity.
