Catalina 27 sail out of San Diego Bay

We will meet at the Deli area under the Boat House restaurant at 9:45 and leave shortly after. Please be punctual, we will not wait. Once 10 rolls around, we will be shoving off as soon as we are ready. BYOB and there will be an iced cooler on board to store your drinks. Please bring snacks or finger foods to share. If the weather and conditions permit, we will plan on heading out of the bay into the open waters of the ocean. Rather we sail the bay or head out to the ocean, depends on what everyone wants to do. Either one are always dependent on the weather and conditions. We generally are out about 4-5 hours but it could be longer. It's best if you don't make other plans as there is no schedule and we get back when we get back. Please feel free to bring your swimsuit. When we get back you are welcome to hang around, relax on the boat enjoying more company and drinks, or you can go to the pool an hot tub and do the same. There is also a two man kayak that you can use.

There is no cost for this meetup, but if you want to contribute anything towards Gas, ice, etc. it is apreciated, but not required.

Please wear comfortable clothes and dress in layers. Also please do not wear black soled shoes. If you are prone to getting sea sickness, you may want to consider not coming, or make sure you take any necessary steps or medications to curb it. We will not turn back and you don't want to be "that guy" who ruined the sail for everyone else.
Inception is a Catalina 27. She is not a huge boat so you will feel the seas more than some of the other boats you might go out on in other groups. You are welcome to trim the sails, and/or take the tiller.

    Hi Cricket,
Thanks for the e-mail. I won't be attending the happy hour (unfortunately) but will be at the dock by 9:45 a.m. unless checking the site produces cancellation. Looking forward to meeting everyone and being on the water once again!

The 9 mile bank looks within reach and could produce some nice fishing. http://rovingangler.com/sample_articles/secrets_of_the_nine_mile_bank
It's 210M south west of the bay about 10 miles from Buoy #5. Our navigation skills could come in handy ;)

hey cricket/sheri, if you make it to the ocean how about sailing north toward mission bay and we'll sail south and perhaps we can "meet up". reaching south will allow us to make use of my new spinnaker. we're leaving the slip late due to barb and danny's boat cleaning party in the morning so you'll have plenty of time getting to open ocean. you can hail us, interlude, on channel 16 and we'll move to 70 or whatever to converse. we'll both have camera's and i don't know about you but i'd like some boat to boat photos under sail.

It looks like we have all kinds of good experience on the sail so far so I’m going to bring my pole(s) again. We’ll have the fish finder going, and if we run accross a kelp patty or school of fish, we’ll have enough experience to slow the boat down, or stip it. You’re welcome to bring a pole too.

Should I bring some fishing gear as well or will you bring everything?

Somehow I was double booked for sailing this Saturday on the 27 and the 36... can't be in two places at once... I saw there was one waiting - so I guess they're in.
