About San Diego Sunday Writers Group

The purpose of the Sunday Writers Group is to support writers in their creative process.

The format for group sharing time will be announced at the time the group meets and is subject to change with each meeting. The group will begin on time in order to finish on time. We will create work during the meetup!


Meetup Format

• Each member reads his/her work to the group and members comment supportively on it. Please bring copies of your work to give to the other members. Please include your name and email address/meetup.com username on your work so that members may provide additional feedback via email. Participants will have from 10 to 20 minutes to read their work and receive feedback. Time allotted is determined by the number of people at the meetup.
  
• The group generates writing prompts. One prompt is chosen at random and all members write for 15-20 minutes. Please bring writing materials for the prompted writing part of the meetup.
  
• Members read their prompted writing to the group if they wish. There are no comments at this stage.
  

What Should I Bring to the Meetup?


Please plan to read a maximum of two pages of your work to the group. Please bring enough copies for all participants. Feel free to bring longer and/or complete copies of your work. Members may read them on their own and send you email feedback. Bring a notebook and pencil or pen for the prompted writing portion of the meetup, and to jot down your comments.


What Kind of Feedback Can I Expect?

Participants in this writing group are asked to make supportive, positive, and encouraging statements. If the writer requests constructive criticism, other members may provide their input in a supportive manner. Please be respectful and stick to the kind of feedback the writer asks for.
