Welcome to San Diego Writers!
MISSION: Looking for extraordinary characters from fantastic locations put into unbelievable situations, aren't you?
This group has a long history of "helping" writers become authors. A couple of the organizers were original members, many moons ago. I have every intention to not only meet the standards of the past, I plan on surpassing them. However, I need your help.
Writing is not easy. In fact it is probably one of the most difficult vocations one can pursue. Critiquing is even harder. To be able to write well, and critique well, takes hard work and perseverance. A famous author once told me, "Writing is rewriting." [Stephen King] Nothing is more true.
Meet your Organizers:
JD Wallace (Call sign - "JD") has been in the writing rooms of Burn Notice, Covert Affairs, Person of Interest, Madam Secretary, Once Upon A Time, Mr. Robot, The Blacklist and a dozen more over the last ten years. Currently, he works as a consulting writer on several current, concept, and pre-development shows and works both as an SME and TA for several movie production companies. This last October, his publisher released the long awaited debut novel, SILENT CATS: Deadly Dance, a fictionalized true romance story about two intelligence officers; one foreign, one domestic. A must-read for anyone interested in unconventional love stories. Find him at #SILENTCATS.
David S. Larson (Call sign - "Dave") This Award-winning author of #thelastjewishgangster will shortly see his memoir project turned into a television show. He has numerous published works (including ghosting) of novel, memoir and screenplays #DavidSLarson. Prior to deciding to pick up a pen, Mr. Larson spent decades as a typesetter and then went on to turn the corporate world on its ear. He writes full time and can help aspiring authors by combining his breadth and depth of experience with his long and wide past reading selections.
Jennifer Donohue (Call sign - "JenX") By day, she's a senior executive in the areas of financial reporting and compliance. By night, she dons a pointy black hat and steps up on her broom to spin wild, colorful, detailed tales in the Young Adult paranormal genre pulling from a lifetime in the alternative lifestyle world; specializing in healing, mediumship, and Shamanism. Her education in philosophy coupled with her hobby of neurolinguistics serves as a foundation for each book, teaching high-level concepts to readers without their knowledge.
Mike Gibbs (Call sign - "Gibby") is a retired San Diego Police Sergeant of over 36 years. He has just finished his first novel called "Spirit Wolf" and it is written in the YA Historical Fiction genre. Mr. Gibbs is a wilderness tracker (of both humans and animals) and is an amateur animal behaviorist and cultural anthropologist.
Well, that's the tip of the iceberg about us. We truly look forward to reading your work and getting to know you.
