Pasadena Symphony Orchestra at the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena

Hello members! As an eager beaver newly deputized event organizer I'd like to invite members to enjoy the concerts of the Pasadena Symphony Orchestra at the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena.

The first concert in 2014 takes place on January 11, 2014. Concerts are usually at 2 PM and 8 PM on Saturdays. I've chosen the 8 PM performances for meetups, as this time might be easier for members (and it gives the performers a chance to "warm up" at 2 PM before we reap the rewards and enjoy them at 8PM!).

The hall is a beautiful concert venue owned by a religious organization. Parking is $10 in an adjacent lot.

The program for the first concert includes the Chopin Piano Concerto #1 in E minor, with pianist Umi Garrett as soloist.

It is followed after intermission by Dvorak's Sixth Symphony. The conductor is Nicholas McGegan.

For more information on Umi, check out her website: http://www.umigarrett.com/home

Nicholas McGegan needs no introduction. A world-renowned conductor, specializing in the early music repertoire, with many CD recordings under his belt, he has conducted in LA frequently. Last season, he delighted the audience with a wonderful Mahler Fourth Symphony.  http://nicholasmcgegan.com/

    Great concert.
It was good to see Sandy again. I'm sorry I couldn't find Cynthia and Jay Kay; hopefully next time.

Is anyone interested in getting together for a bite to eat before the concert?

Since this the first concert event for this group, can you tell us how this is going to work? If we are each buying our own individual seats, can we at least agree on the section in which we will be sitting? Or can you get a group rate for us, once you know how many people will be attending?

Hi Sandy, These are all great questions. I'm sure Paul will have the answers for you soon for this event or feel free to e-mail him directly as well.

    Thanks Livia!
For a free download of the concerto, try: http://www.rediscovery.us/mysteries.html and go to Musical Mystery VI: Grocery Store Greats! for Chopin #1, amongst the other pieces; these were LP recordings which were sold in grocery stores back in 60's. It's a riddle; the real name of the performers wasn't on the LP's back then, but when you download it from this website for free, the true identities of the pianist and conductor are revealed. Enjoy!

Looks absolutely wonderful, especially since Chopin is pretty much my favorite composer & I love music from the Romantic period. Thank you, Paul for finding this great event!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
