SQL Server 2012 Master Data Services

Master Data Services has had a major upgrade in the upcoming SQL Server 2012 release. BI Consultant Mark Gschwind will take you through the new Excel interface, the new Silverlight look and feel, and integration improvements.
Knowing how to use this tool can be a valuable addition to your repertoire as a BI professional, allowing you to address data quality and other challenges.
Mark will demo the product, show how to create a model, add columns and rows, manage security, and create hierarchies. He'll demo the new Excel interface and discuss how to allow you to manage master data yourself. He'll touch on how to integrate with a DW, migrating from Dev to Production.

Mark Gschwind, Partner at DesignMind, is an expert on data warehousing, OLAP, and ERP migration. He has authored three enterprise data warehouses and over 80 OLAP cubes for 46 clients in a wide range of industries. Mark has certifications in SQL Server and Oracle Essbase.

Scott E. TownsendMark did a wonderful job demystifying MDS for me. I could never quite get my head around it, but I came out of his presentation much more confident that I know what the potential and proper usage of MDS is in SQL 2012. I've been to several MDS seminars over the past year but had no luck. His presentation at BAMBIUG absolutely hit the bulls eye--it was clear, well articulated, had practical examples, and patiently answered questions from the audience. I encourage all to attend these meetups!

Tony LongGiven the amount of time I thought it covered some of the key features, functions of the product. However, I didn't think the product measures up to some the competition out there like Informatica. Hopefully, Microsoft recognizes this and has a roadmap to close the gaps.
