Hello All,

I am adding a Meetup that will allow us to hike right down the middle of Market Street in San Francisco as part of the Moving Planet Day of Climate Action on Sat. Sept. 24.

As many of you know, I care deeply about and work on addressing humanity’s grand challenge of climate change and making the switch to clean and efficient energy sources. The Moving Planet Day of Climate Action is an international mobilization of people by the nonprofit organization 350.org to show the world’s leaders that the public wants action on this grand challenge. There will be actions throughout the world, and in San Francisco there will be a major event including a walk down Market Street to the Civic Center where there will be a rally with speeches, food, and information.

                       http://www.moving-planet.org/BayArea

Since you all enjoy hiking and care about nature and our planet, I am hoping some of you would like to join me on the “hike” down Market Street next Saturday. The more people that attend this walk and rally, the stronger the message to the World’s leaders and the better the media coverage by local, national, and international media.

We will take the 10:58 AM Caltrain Baby Bullet from Palo Alto- University Avenue station and arrive at 11:39 AM in San Francisco. We will then hike to the starting point near the Ferry Building in San Francisco for the 12:30 PM start time of the walk down Market Street.

Our hike will include the walk to the Ferry Building from the Caltrain station, the walk down Market Street, and the walk back from the Civic Center to the Caltrain station. All-in-all a good hike too!

For those meeting us in San Francisco, our group will come together on the Embarcadero Walkway at the entrance to Pier 14 at 12:10 PM, and we will then walk to Justin Herman Plaza where the walk down Market Street begins at 12:30 PM.

After the rally we will go out for an optional dinner at a well known restaurant in SF.

Details are posted below.

This hike is the most meaningful outing San Francisco Bay Area Outings has so far led in terms of its relevance to real challenges that humanity faces. Besides, how often do you get to hike down the middle of Market Street!

I hope you can join us....

Your Organizer,
- Julio M.
