Details of Mount Tamalpais hike have been posted.
Towering Mount Tamalpais is known for its splendor and its spectacular views of the coast, San Francsico, Point Reyes, Marin County and more. Our hike will start on the charming Dipsea Trail steps in Mill Valley along a series of trails that will take us up to the East Peak of Mt. Tam. (2571 feet altitude) from the southwest. The view from the observation deck on the East Peak is truly phenomenal on a clear day. We will then descend back to Mill Valley on the Temelpa Trail with its stunning views of the Bay and other sights to the southeast. After completing this hike, you can say you hiked from the base of Mt. Tam to its summit!
With a hike length of 9 miles and 2600 feet of elevation gain, our hike will be at the upper end of our usual intermediate level. Please consider your physical condition and make sure you are able to handle an intermediate-level hike. *More details are posted at our Meetup group.*
** There will be an optional special dinner in the Mill Valley/ San Anselmo area after the hike.
NOTE: Carpool options:
1. You can meet to carpool at our usual carpool point in Palo Alto at the California Avenue Caltrain station.
2. I have also established a carpool point in San Francisco in the Richmond District (at Anza St. & Funston Ave.). Carpools with excess capacity from Palo Alto will stop at this carpool point and other drivers going through SF with capacity in their cars should stop as well.
See the details posted at our Meetup Group website.
I hope you can join us....
