Hello All,

DETAILS HAVE BEEN POSTED for Uvas Canyon County Park Hike (waterfall hike) on Sat. Mar. 24.

After the recent rains in our area, a hike at a great park for waterfalls could reveal some lovely sights. We will thoroughly explore this park which is known for its scenic waterfalls. A portion of our route will include the Waterfall Loop which often makes “top ten” lists of best hikes in the San Francisco Bay Area.

With a hike length of 6.5 miles and 1750 feet of elevation gain, our hike will be at our usual intermediate level. Please consider your physical condition and make sure you are able to handle an intermediate-level hike. *More details are listed below.*

NOTE: Carpool options:
1. You can meet to carpool at our usual carpool point in Palo Alto at the California Avenue Caltrain station.

2. I have also established a carpool point in San Jose at the Cottle Road Park and Ride at the intersection of Cottle Road and Highway 85.  Carpools with excess capacity from Palo Alto will also stop at this carpool point.

See the details below.

I hope  you can join us....

Your Organizer,
Julio M.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION:
After the recent rains in our area, a hike at a great park for waterfalls could reveal some lovely sights. We will thoroughly explore this park which is known for its scenic waterfalls. A portion of our route will include the Waterfall Loop which often makes “top ten” lists of best hikes in the San Francisco Bay Area.

From the Ranger Station we will proceed along Uvas Creek Trail to see this major creek up close and enjoy the rush of water along its banks. Our hike will then join the Waterfall Loop Trail which will take us along lovely Swanson Creek and provide good views of Basin Falls, Upper Falls, and Black Rock Falls-- each with its own unique geometry of flowing water and cliffs, which should be quite a treat after the recent rains.

Along the way we will take Knobcone Trail to Knobcone Point which will give us a good aerobic workout. Next we continue along Swanson Creek to Contour Trail. Our hike will then join Alex Canyon trail which will take us to Triple Falls-- the final waterfall treat of the day. We will then partially retrace the Alex Canyon trail to return to our starting point.
