A hiker no longer needs to be twenty-something, to have a great multi-day wilderness experience. With all the new light-weight materials and gear design, it is easy to go backpacking with your base pack weight (not counting food, water and fuel) weighing under 15 pounds.
At this workshop, you can:
-- Find out why the most important piece of gear to acquire is a postage scale;
-- See and feel how a gear set-up under 15 pounds cuts no corners in safety;
-- Watch a slide show of a through-hike on the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada;
-- Find buddies to backpack with in small groups;
-- Taste-test dehydrated food;
-- Bring your favorite gear item for "show and tell";
-- Obtain the master gear list of an expert.
This workshop will take place on Wednesday May 22, 2013, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m, in Oakland in the Grand/Lake area, the home of Rachel Ginsburg. Phone number:[masked]-2672.
