This is a dog-friendly hike, and an event co-sponsored by the San Francisco and Loma Prieta chapters.
"Deep in a valley framed by oak-covered hills, with sailboats and sailboards skimming over its waters, Del Valle is like a lakeside resort only 10 miles south of Livermore." Add to this some turkey vultures, red-tailed hawks, and warm conversation and you've got the makings of a great day. We'll take a leisurely out-and-back from the Arroyo St. entrance, stroll along Del Valle Reservoir following the East Shore Trail, and enjoy lunch at Badger Cove. The route has little elevation gain, so it should be pretty easy. After the hike, we'll stop at Wente Winery for self-congratulatory libations, and some of us may even stay for dinner (so this event could extend beyond 6 pm for some). Rain cancels everything but the smile.
Meet at the Arroyo Road Staging Area at 10 a.m. Parking is $3.00, must have exact amount for machine. Bring lunch and layers
Directions: From 580 Livermore take the Portola Ave. exit. Drive southeast on Portola Ave. and turn right on North L Street.
