Tennessee Valley Hike

PLEASE NOTE THE MEETING TIME HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 10:30 to avoid confusion with another Meetup group that is meeting at 11:00.  This 6.6 mile hike climbs out of Tennessee Valley to Wolf Ridge and Hill 88, then returns via the Coastal trail and a visit to the beach at Tennessee Cove. Great views of the ocean, coastal hills, valleys, the Bay and the City. NOTE: This hike is very steep in places, total climbing just under 1,000 feet.

If you want to carpool from San Francisco, let me know.

I know it's super last-minute, but are you still offering a carpool from SF? If so, my number is[masked]-3134. No worries if not!

Is there anybody from east bay that could take Melora and/or Becky S. from some BART station over there?

Bay Area Ridge Trail and more meetup group has 40+ hikers leaving from the same trailhead at 11 - maybe you all could leave earlier but I think I will steer clear with so many hikers targeting the same spot!

here's a link - http://www.meetup.com... -- looks like they are planning to do the same trails - so you might consider a modification unless you want to feel like you're all fleeing the zombie apocalypse through the Marin Headlands with so many people leaving TV at the same time! :)

I've moved up our meeting time by 30 minutes and will confer with that group's leader to ensure we take different trails up to Wolf Ridge. I do like the image of the zombie apocalypse, though.

Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on this hike. They are not permitted at Tennessee Valley beach or the trail to get there.

    Doggies allowed?

Hi Rita, I am sorry to say no dogs are allowed on this hike. They are not permitted at Tennessee Valley beach or the trail getting there.

I'm glad that dogs are allowed on this hike. I'll be joining you with my Yellow Labrador pup, Suzie. She is 9 months now and loves our hikes and being near the beach.

Cindy, I am so sorry but dogs are not allowed on this hike. Tennessee Valley and Tennessee Valley Trail are closed to dogs. I hope Susie will join us another time.

I'm looking for a ride (live in Oakland.) I could meet at any BART station or come to SF.

    Hi Folks--
I seem to have gotten a cold, and it is not looking good for me to go...hope the East Bay folks can figure out an alternative car pool. I'm sorry to disappoint....

Can dogs go on this walk?

    January 2, 2014

  • Melora

Hi--looking forward to this hike! Anyone driving to Marin from the East Bay? I am in Emeryville... I would like to carpool with someone, if possible..... (or) I can Bart over to SF and meet someone driving to the North Bay from there.

    January 1, 2014

    • Nancy K.

I am probably going to drive from North Berkeley BART...there is a slight chance I will not be able to come, however.

      January 2, 2014

    • Paj V.

Melora, in a pinch, I can pick you up at BART in SF, but hopefully you can ride with Nancy or that some other East Bayer will chime in.

I do wish I could make this hike... but it's a workday for me...

Sorry everybody, I've updated the write-up, but for those who inquired the hike is about 6 1/2 miles and 1,000 feet elevation gain (and loss)
