Hi everyone,

I wanted to share photos and news from my meet-up site:

The blouses worn here by these women (dancers at the Guelaguetza, Oaxacan Indian Fiesta in Sta. Cruz on 5/19) are bead-embroidered. They are very costly and very heavy (and lovely).

Stanford powwow--this is probably the best place in bay area to buy & see Amer. Indian beadwork. This girl has beaded crown, braid decorations, etc. Regalia is beaded and spectacular. Beadwork for sale is awesome and usually low priced. Beads, dentalia, bone beads, shells, shells, feathers & all kinds of findings are for sale. I got coral, alabaster & turquoise at really low prices 2 years ago. You can also get cool silver jewelry, antique jewelry, dolls (some completely made of beads), pottery, baskets, drums, etc. Admission is free. More photos coming soon.

Berkeley pow wow. ANother place to see/buy beadwork. Much smaller than Stanford, but only 2 blocks from BART and a much nicer place to sit on grass and have picnic.
Admission free.

More photos coming soon......
