About the Walk--
We'll meet in the Ferry Building, in the foyer facing Book Passage which is to the side of Peet's Coffee (#42 and #43 on this map).
We'll end in front of City Lights Bookstore on Columbus near Broadway.
Our meeting time is 9:45 am and we begin walking at 10:00 am sharp, so plan in advance for transit, parking or other delays.
Our route will take us along the Embarcadero for a bit, up the back side of Telegraph Hill and through North Beach. You can end the walk in North Beach just in time for lunch or continue through the financial

district for a short walk to Market Street and the Montgomery BART Station. The walk should take about 2.5-3.0 hours at an average-slow pace. There will be some hills and staircases with rewarding views.
Weather--
We will walk in drizzle, but cancel if there is serious rain. If the weather looks iffy, check this site for a status update at 6:00 am the day of our walk.
What to Bring/Wear--
>Wear comfortable shoes
>Dress in layers for possible chilly wind or sunny warmth
>Sunglasses, hat, sun screen
>Camera
>Water
Transportation--
Street parking is terrible in this neighborhood so public transportation is strongly advised. Our starting and ending points are close to BART and served by several Muni lines. Or you can pay for parking near the Ferry Building at one of these parking lots.
No-Shows & Late Cancellations--
Well-organized, great route with wonderful sites and views, and most of all, fabulous company and conversation. Thanks! Had a fantastic time! Looking forward to the next hike.

Gorgeous walk with wonderful company up the stairs along lush green backyards where I even saw a wild tiger sitting under a palm tree. Great opportunity for a tourist to explore San Francisco and practice English with locals.

We had a great time on the steps of Telegraph Hill and in all the little alleys of North Beach. Nice group, good workout and still back in time for the football games.

What a good walk (and workout). I think we successfully navigated our way up and down every stairway between the Ferry Building and Columbus Ave. And the views were so much better than from any StairMaster. I'll be watching for the next walk (and hoping for a chance to try some of the past walks if repeated).

Thanks for the GREAT walk. Sorry we lost you after the church, we stopped to take our picture. What bar did you guys go to?? When is the next walk?

I can no longer attend tomorrow so there's now an open spot for wait-listers. Enjoy!
January 4
Well, Just put myself on waiting list...
What are my chances,-can the organizer say or what...?
January 4
Hi, can't make it tomorrow (I was on wait list). Hope you all have a great time!!
January 4
For those wondering, here is how it works: The waiting list is set to manual. That means when a space opens up, everyone on the wait list gets an automatic email. The first person to log in and change their RSVP manually gets the spot. I know it can be frustrating, but it ensures that those moving up from the waiting list are still available to go. (The alternative is an automatic move up, but often plans change and then spots are filled by people who didn't even know they were on the attending list, and unintentional no-shows are the result.)
Anyhoo... the weather forecast looks pretty good for Saturday. Partly cloudy, low 60s, small chance of rain. See you all at the Ferry building!

Hi,
I got a notice that there's a spot but not sure how to confirm.
I'd like to go.
Thanks!
January 2
Aaargh! I've twice received emails notifying me that a spot has opened up but find none when I go to the site. I suppose I need to watch my incoming mail more closely and act faster.
