The Brasil Guitar Duo, combining the versatile João Luiz and Douglas Lora, returns to San Francisco next month. Hailed by Classical Guitar magazine for their "maturity of musicianship and technical virtuosity," Luiz and Lora are ardent interpreters of traditional and Brazilian works, as well as distinguished composers in their own right.
Among the works they will perform here next month are an original arrangement of one of Rameau’s Pièces de Clavecin in addition to one of Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Preludes and Fugues. Other highlights of the concert are three original works, one by Lora and

two by Luiz. Lora’s Waltz and Postludio, written in 5/4 and 6/8 time, are works which the composer describes as approaching the popular Brazilian style known as the choro.
