Charles Durrett and Kathryn McCamant of Durrett and McCamant Architects and the Cohousing Company will be speaking in San Francisco to present Cohousing to all who are interested in starting a community here in San Francisco!
Charles and Kathryn are credited with bringing cohousing to the US, are the authors of "Creating Cohousing: Building Sustainable Communities", and have worked with over 50 cohousing communities to date. They coined the term "cohousing" which is now in the Oxford English Dictionary!
Come and join Cohousing members, seekers, and others who would like to learn more about what cohousing is, and how we can make it happen in San Francisco.
"Creating Cohousing: Building Sustainable Communities" by architects Charles Durrett and Kathryn McCamant, outlines how anyone can custom-build their neighborhood to fit their needs and aspirations. This is housing organized by the residents, not for them, with an emphasis on independence and autonomy.
The event will include a presentation that will be the perfect chance to find out more about living in a more supportive living environment.
A leading cohousing architect, Durrett has won numerous awards, including the United Nations World Habitat Award and the Best of 50+ Housing Award (National Home Builders Assoc. 2008). Durrett is credited with coining the term ‘cohousing’ and together with wife and professional partner, Kathryn McCamant, introduced cohousing projects to America.
**Refreshments and snacks will be provided**
