Changes re your SF Cohousing Meetup group

Hi everyone,

The founder of our San Francisco Meetup Group, Lauren Mendoza, has officially stepped down as Organizer. Thank you, Lauren, for all the heart and energy you put in to launch our group. We will miss you!

Also of note:

As is the normal course of events for a cohousing group in formation, the San Francisco Meetup Group has recently split into two levels of involvement.

We currently have 159 Meetup group members. These are people with all levels of interest. Please come to our periodic social gatherings (posted as "OPEN" in the event title). We would love to meet you!

We also now have an active core group – currently called Active Organizers (AO's). The Active Organizers have committed to paying monthly dues, attending meetings 2x/month, learning and practicing Dynamic Governance as method of self-governance, participating in at least one working committee and otherwise actively working energetically toward creating the first cohousing development in the City.

As we have already been working together for more than six months, bringing new people in will require orientation. For this reason, the AO's meetings are not open to all Meetup group members at this time. We are in the process of creating policies and procedures to bring more people into this core working group.

If you are interested in this next level commitment, please stay tuned for announcements about how to join the Active Organizers. In the mean time, you can prepare yourself for active participation by reading "Creating Cohousing" by McCamant and Durrett and be sure to come socialize with us at our periodic social picnics, a perfect opportunity to meet AOs and others who are interested and committed to create cohousing in San Francisco.

Yours in community,

Candice Kollar

Thanks for the clear heads-up. Where's a good place to get the book?

Bird & Beckett Books in Glen Park usually stocks a couple of copies of McCamant & Durrett's Creating Cohousing but I would call first to make sure they have it in stock. http://www.birdbecket... Bird & Beckett is a wonderful little independent bookseller and a hub of creativity and culture. They have casual live music events every Friday (Jazz) from 5:30 - 8pm and on Sundays (Jazz/World, etc.) from 4:30 - 6pm in addition to poetry, book groups, etc. Plan to throw a couple of bills into the bucket for the band. Glen Park is easily accessible by BART. Otherwise you can google and order it on line.
