I don't usually blast the group but I wanted to loop you all in on a very cool event coming up in a few weeks. Our friends at Gaffta are organizing the Urban Prototyping Festival at Techshop the weekend of Sept 28-30. The idea is to get together makers, coders, designers, hackers, etc to prototype projects designed for civic engagement that can be easily reproduced in other cities.
What particularly interests me about this is the festival's goal to marry physical and digital. Gaffta is sponsoring the make-a-thon at Techshop where participants will be able to use the awesome resources there to build physical prototypes within which we can embed electronics to connect to networks, sensors etc.
There's a brainstorming session / meet & greet tonight at Intersection for the Arts from 6-8. I'll be there looking to wrangle a few people together to work with me at the make-a-thon in September.
If you're interested, please help spread the word and hope to see you there.
