San Francisco, CA
It has now been just over two years since I started our group.
For those of you who don't know, SFCC was born in a bar in the Financial District amongst friends with a penchant for Flash development and so was founded as "The San Francisco Flash Happy Hour."
Of course times have changed and many of us who built our careers around Flash have moved on to many other technologies, including everything from HTML5 & JS to OpenFrameworks, Cinder, and TouchDesigner.
The wonderful benefit to this evolution has been the incredible diversity we've been able to attract under the auspices of a group for "creative technologists".
SFCC is growing at a wonderful pace, and as I write this we're at just about 700 members and adding almost 75 new members each month!
Since the beginning I have been the sole funder of our events, paying the meetup fees, purchasing BBQ supplies, buying Giants tickets, reserving sailboats etc!
Now I need your help.
As we grow I'm finding the responsibility of doing all this a lot to keep up with in the context of the myriad of other things that consume my life.
I have met so many amazing people from running this group that most of my best friends in SF are actually people I met at our events and this alone will always motivate me to continue on.
However I want to give you guys an opportunity to give back and help me drive our group forward.
I've had many of you tell me this is one of the best meetups you've ever been too, now you can really return the favor and help us become the best technology meetup in SF.
Thank you guys for making this the amazing group it has become and for your continued support and involvement as we continue to grow.
You guys rock.
