SFHG Homebrew Share at Pi Bar!

  • February 17, 2013 · 12:00 PM

The SFHG is turning 1, bring some homebrew and come celebrate with us!

We launched the SFHG during SF Beer Week last year with a Homebrew Share at Pi Bar, one of SF’s premier craft beer purveyors. The SFHG did a ton over the last year, one thing that always rocked was the awesome crowd and amazing brews at each of the Homebrew Shares we’ve done at Pi!

At this Homebrew Share we will announce the winners of the SFHG Winter Spiced Beer Competition (as chosen by a panel of six qualified judges, most BJCP ranked or Certified Cicerone). We’ll also be awarding the People’s Choice, everyone gets a vote, so definitely bring enough homebrew to share with everyone.

A measly $15 to Pi Bar gets you all the pizza and salad you can eat and covers them for opening during non-business hours just for our event. Have you had their pizza? This is a steal, my friends. I expect we’ll have a crowd, so get there at noon!

Great to see such an awesome turn out and be able to sample so many good brews. Looking forward to many more throughout the year in the SFHG!

I'll have the feedback from the judges for yours and Rylan's brews with me on Tues, Nicky. It'll be a fun meeting. See you there!

Awesome showing! We had about 100 homebrewers show up and at least twice that many brews to sample. Great pizza by Pi Bar kept on coming, too. Love all the support from this great community and looking forward to seeing you all again soon!

I am new so it doesn't make sense that I come to this event. Thanks!

Helen - you're new ... which is exactly the reason why you should come out to meet the group!

I seem to recall a no-keg rule at Pi for the share event. Is this bottles only, and if so, what's the going # of bottles? Any other rules or limitations? I'd hate to step on Pi's toes after they graciously agreed to host.

Hi Daniel. Everyone is welcome to bring as many bottles, growlers, or tap-a-draft/party pig type beer delivery systems as they'd like! Anything but kegs is OK. We don't do kegs because these are meant to be tasting events and not to have a festival-like atmosphere, also kegs take up lots of space and require much more prep! I think that if someone had the smaller 2 gallon kegs and were going to use a tiny tank to keep pressure that could be OK, too. But please no full sized kegs and tanks. If you want a shot at winning the "People's Choice" vote, bring enough for a bunch of people to try. That's it!

Andrei and I brought a 2.5 gallon keg with a Co2 cartridge injector last time with no issues.

I'll bring a couple of kegs worth floating.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
