Kick off the summer BBQ season and pay "Tribute to America" with SFHG in Golden Gate Park!

This Meetup is open to paid members of the San Francisco Homebrewers Guild and their personal guests (e.g., friends and family). If you are not currently a paid member of the SFHG, simply go to http://sfhomebrewersguild.com/sign-up/ to join! Being a member of this Meetup group does not make you a member of the SFHG, you need to go to the link above and sign up and pay annual dues ... trust me, it's worth it - membership has its privileges!

Members will  meet at Lindley Meadow picnic areas #1 and 2. SFHG will provide charcoal, plates, cups, etc. --- bring what you like to throw on the grill and a side dish for other brewers to share. If you have a small hibachi-type grill (gas or charcoal) that will sit on top of a picnic table, please bring it to help us increase our grill space. You're also welcomed and encouraged to bring picnic games - beanbag toss, hill-billy golf, badminton, etc. if you like. Kids are welcome - we are in a park after all!

In addition to grilling and hanging out, we'll of course share homebrew, so bring your competition and non-competition beers! We'll also -

- Announce the winners of our SFHG Tribute to America California Common and American IPA competition.

- Attendees will vote for the "Peoples' Choice Award" for the competition beers.

- Attendees will vote for the "Peoples' Choice Award" for all other non-competition style beers that brewers bring to share that day.

We're allowed to have bottled beer, please NO KEGS as this is against GG Park rules. Again, the picnic is open to our dues-paying SFHG members, not the general public - if you're not a member yet, go to http://sfhomebrewersguild.com/sign-up/ to sign up and join us in the park.

The Bucky's Coffe Porter got several People's Choice votes! I think it gave me a needed caffeine lift as well :)

Kevin, I agree! We may even try making a version more like a milk stout with lactose and a bit less coffee next time.

Had a pet medical issue, so I'll sit this one out (but enjoy a brew or two at home)

Great group! Great beers! So much fun! Unexpected sunburn! Kudos to Flamin' Fruit, then there was a Hippy Hill IPA or something? Whose was that? Daniel and Matt had an array of fantastic beers, and that vanilla chai coffee porter! So many beers were great - i cannot even name them all - and it was good to talk to and get to know folks!

Whoa that was a lot of awesome beer! And a beautiful day and wonderful people. Great to see you all and meet some new folks too. Chris and Kevin hats off for another well planned and excellent SFHG event, thank you!

That event was bitchin'! Cheers to Kevin and Chris (and gang) for putting on a great event. It might not seem like much, but all the basics and bonuses were covered, and most of us were able to simply slide right in to drink and pour beer w/no drama. Ez Pz. Beer was great, people were better, and momma nature smiled down on us all. I vote to do it again and again.....

I have a complaint ... There were TOO MANY EXCELLENT BEERS at the picnic and I didn't have enough time to try them all! Was a great day - thanks to all who came out to share your beers and food. Definitely need to consider this to be an annual SFHG event!

Great time, everyone! You can't ask for better weather than that. Congrats to the winners of the IPA and Cali Common styles Tribute to America comp and our People's Choice winners. Thanks a ton to everyone for coming out and bringing great brews and BBQ!

Will there be a jumpy house?

    May 1, 2013

    • Kevin I.

No jumpy house. Insurance requirements and cost make it prohibitive.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
