SFHG "Back to our Brewing Roots" Porter Competition Drop-off

Hey there homebrewers -

Here are the details for entering the AHA-BJCP certified SFHG "Back to our Brewing Roots” Porter competition. To honor one of England's classic beer style contributions, we're brewing up some Porters! The category for this comp is 12B – Robust Porter - they will be judged according to 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines (http://www.bjcp.org/2008styles/style12.php#1b). Winners will be announced at an SFHG Event in late November (TBD, will be Nov 23rd or 24th). Award recipients for each style will earn 3 points for 1st Place, 2 points for 2nd Place, and 1 point for 3rd Place toward the 2013 SFHG Homebrewer of the Year Award. All other non-placing entries will earn ½ point. This is the final SFHG comp for 2013!

ENTERING YOUR BEER: Entries are being accepted now through Sunday, November 3rd at SF Brewcraft at 1555 Clement Street,[masked] – check with the store for their operating hours (it appears they're open until 6:00 PM on Sundays). Entries must consist of TWO 12 oz. unlabeled bottles (or TWO 22 oz. bottles) with a piece of paper rubber-banded to the bottles containing (1) entrant’s name, (2) phone number, (3) email address, and (4) the name of the homebrew. PLEASE DO NOT TAPE OR GLUE YOUR PAPER TO THE BOTTLE OR YOUR ENTRY WILL BE DISQUALIFIED! Use a rubber band – it helps greatly for the stewards and judges running the competition (also, don't expect Brewcraft to have rubber bands for you, go prepared!). Please write legibly and bring them in a six pack carton if possible, to make it easier when we have tons of them to move around.

We get so many entries to our comps from our paid members that we can't accept other entries, this is a "club only" comp. Cost to enter is *FREE* TO SFHG MEMBERS with an email to [masked] with the details of your entry (the same information you provide on the sheet rubber-banded to your bottles). The email is important for the organizers to know how many entries to expect to pick up at Brewcraft and to ensure no entries are missing – please don't email until you actually turn in your beer.

Let Chris or Kevin know if you have any questions. Best of luck on your entries!

Wish I could but I have Baltic coming out of my ears! To brew another porter would alienate my hophead squeeze.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
