Beer Judging 101 (BJCP)

Details here: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/5098353312

There are two sessions. I'll be in the second one, which is the time I've entered for this meetup, but I'm sure either is just as informative.

I'll be taking BART if anyone wants to rendezvous in SF, and FWIW, the event includes a brewery tour after the session.

Good presentation and was able to check a few beers I had wanted to try off my list.

Fun and educational! There was a nice write up in SF Gate too. http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/a...

Good to see a handful of our SFHG folks take in this event. Sampled 10 different styles of beer with a discussion lead by a BJCP-certified Grand Master Level III Judge (that is, he knew what he was talking about!). Would have liked a bit more info about the BJCP program, but given it was a Beer Week event open to the public, it is understandable he kept it at the "these beers represent a small sample of what beer can be." Thanks to Evan for putting it on the Meetup schedule!

    Hey Folks,

I'm driving to the BJCP event in Berkeley Sunday and have three seats available.

I will swing through the Safeway parking lot on 16th and Church at 1pm (Castro area - very close to the Church Muni stop).

I'm going to stop by Oak Barrel Winecraft prior to heading to Pyramid to drop off entries for the BAM World Cup of Beer; you can plan to do the same or just cruise the shop to pick up supplies if needed.

Looks like BART will take about 90 minutes, which isn't going to support what I need to do that day. Will reserve seats for first to send me a reply email ([masked]). Thanks.

We'll see how I feel after Saturday night's beer week shenanigans, but so far I'm planning on being at Jupiter/Triple Rock for Sour Sunday, and taking a bus or a hike over to Pyramid from there.

Now that I know about the Sat night Jug Shop barrel aged tasting I'm on the fence about Sour Sunday. Definitely can't do both, no way I'll be up early on Sunday if I'm sampling big barreled beers the night before. First world problems.

I think Oak Barrel is closed on Sundays...unless they're open for an event.

Thanks, Michael! You just saved me from stopping by there - I guess last time I was out that way it must have been a Saturday.

Yeah, I've gotten burned by the closed on Sundays thing once or twice. Show up and there's nobody there. You just don't expect it.

I attended this event during Beer Week in 2011, it was definitely worth it.

First session is sold out, but I just got my ticket for the second session. Thanks for the heads up on this.
