Welcome to San Francisco I Liq Chuan practice group.

The training is intended for students of all levels interested in learning the art. I Liq Chuan, martial art of awareness, is an art of cultivating consciousness based on Tai Chi and Zen principles, in other words the practice of moving meditation.

The philosophy underlying I Liq Chuan involves the very simple concept of making an active choice to be fully aware of the present moment, by being aware of the sounds around you, your breathing, your visual perception, and the feel of the atmosphere on your skin. Observe how thoughts pop into the mind, but don't let them take your awareness away. By not arguing or mentally conversing with the thought, you will be free from its control.

When you build up mindfulness you can sense everything that an opponent will do, by his energy, his words, or a movement of his hands, you can sense it. By applying and realizing this philosophy, more of life opens up to you because your ability of immediate perception has increased. What might seem like a sixth sense to others, is really just seeing things happening from their base of origin, you see the causes and effects that led up to the present moment. Through awareness: Students are not copying another person, they are learning to be themselves through self-realization.

This art is the cultivation of the conscious mind:

1. To unify the mental & physical

2. To unify self (mental/physical) with opponent and environment

3. To see and feel the conditions while staying both mentally and physically in the process of present, formless, and neutral

4. To be free of control from emotions such as anger, greed, ego, hate etc." - Sifu Sam F.S. Chin

 

What you will learn:
We do not just practice forms, the nucleus of the system is from partner training which provides feedback to help build your awareness and sensitivity.  You will learn the foundations of the ILC system which includes but is not limited to the 13 points, 15 basics, single and partner practice, sticky and spinning hands (some call it pushing hands), footwork, as well as free fighting or sparring.   They will all be taught and  trained systematically so you can recognize and harmonize with the opponent from a distance or at point of contact to create an application point but most of all to cultivate mindfulness and to build a strong foundation in self defense as well as mind and body wellness

Prices:

Membership Association fee is $50 dollars and lasts for a year, the benefit is that you become officially recognized by the ILC worldwide community as a member along with oversite and ranking by your seniors and the lineage holder of the system, Sifu Sam Chin (see www.iliqchuan.org)

Private Lessons sliding scale minimum $20 dollars.

Group(2 or more people) 15 dollar drop in.

all lessons group and private are approximately an hour but can last longer depending on time and how much you want to train....I was lucky to train 4+ hours at a time when I started.  The more practice time you put in the better the result to change your nervous system and allow for faster progress.  Hope to see you soon:)
