January Weekend Game

Hi everybody. I hope you've enjoyed your holidays and are ready to start the new year with some Jericho. Since my five year old nephew got a stockpile of Nerf stuff for Christmas, I've been using him as target practice and figured that probably means it's time to set up a new game. This one will be on a Saturday and will be less of an experiment than the last one. Anyways, see you in a few weeks.

Another excellent game (not that there's ever been a bad one). Thanks, Ben, for organizing! And thanks, Shannon, for the awesome, glow-in-the-dark swag! Very cool!

This week's game was a lot of fun, and was a good introduction for new players like myself

I'm looking forward to my first Jericho game tomorrow! I'll be bringing my car – any recommendations for parking during the game?

    January 18, 2013

    • Benjamin

There's the Mission Garage By Metreon on 4th and Mission which is probably a lot easier to find parking at than the underground Union Square Garage.

Hi moderators! I'm recovering from a broken toe and am just fine walking (even quick walking) around. But jogging, running and definitely sprinting are out for the time being. I've never been to a Jericho game - am I going to be left behind in Saturday's event or is there a playstyle option that would be suited to a momentarily hobbled spy?

    January 17, 2013

    • Shannon

ditto. I'm too old to run everywhere, but I still come out. actually, someone who walks everywhere just might stay under the enemy agent radar enough to really make some great kills/wins.

I played for months with a bum toe, "walk slowly and hide you gun well" is a motto to live by in jericho

Sorry wrong gun. I have the raven is that a good gun? Thanks for the reply

    January 14, 2013

    • Shannon

raven is a great gun that some of our players have used with deadly results. a little big, but you'll have to make the call as to what style of play you prefer.

is the maverick Neff gun a good choice?

    January 14, 2013

    • Benjamin

Yeah, it's pretty popular, but a new revolver for the elite series has just been released. If the performance of the nitefinder replacement is any indication, this one should be much better than the maverick.

      January 14, 2013

    • Eric A.

The "Elite" version of the Maverick is called the Strongarm. You can get them at ToysRUs and I think at Target, possibly elsewhere. The Strongarm has better range/power than the Maverick, but might be a little less accurate. The Strongarm also has "slam-fire" where you hold down the trigger on the blaster and pump it, rapid fire like a shotgun. Still only holds 6 darts though. The Strongarm is longer than the Maverick, but slightly skinnier. If you want to go Omar Little on rival spies, check out the Rough Cut, the new slam-fire shotgun.

Are nerf blowguns allowed provided we use standard nerf darts?

    January 11, 2013

    • Ellis K.

The nerf blowgun is the deadliest of nerf guns :x

      January 11, 2013

    • Benjamin

We've had people use them, and as long as the darts aren't modified it's generally okay. But do remember that this is a spy game, so the more discreet you are, the better.

So what are the rules on nerf football grenade launchers?

    January 11, 2013

    • Benjamin

Right now only traditional foam darts or discs are allowed.

      January 11, 2013

    • Shannon

We want to limit weaponry to guns that wont injure someone if shot at point blank. Please leave it at home.

What is the best nerf gun and ammo to buy, and where can I get it by mail order?

    January 3, 2013

    • Dan

What are the pros and cons for each of these guns?

      January 4, 2013

    • Yoshi M.

The Maverick is a 6-shooter, but a bit large and hard to conceal. The Nightfinder is smaller and has really great range but only holds 1 dart at a time. It's also a little bulky. The Sharp Shot looks similar to the Nightfinder but has a carabiner attachment, which wouldn't be very helpful honestly. Some people bring massive guns with a really high clip size and rely on firepower to stay alive instead of stealth. It all depends on your play style, as Skylar said. Beyond that, don't expect us to do all your market research for you ;)

...are you allowed to use the Nerf Axe/Sword, throw it at someone, and make it still count? haha

    January 3, 2013

    • Shannon

I think you may have confused us with the assassins creed Jericho game! ;)
