This group is for Koreans to meet other fellow Koreans.
If you are new to the group or are interested in joining the group please make sure you read the following to make sure you understand what is required of you before you join and after you join the group.
Pre-requisite for this group:
You must be ethnically Korean (full, half, a quarter, an eighth... however much if you have Korean blood in you you are ethnically Korean). I didn't want to discriminate anyone from joining this group however I still wanted to make sure this is different from other "social" meet up groups in San Francisco. It doesn't matter whether you can speak Korean or not. We have 2nd generation Korean Americans who can't speak a word of English to people who only recently moved to the US and speak better Korean than English. If you want to you will be able to pick up some Korean from bilingual or Korean speakers OR if you are new to the country maybe pick up some English and American culture along the way.
So please do not join if you don't meet the criteria above.
(Partners and friends of Koreans are welcome to attend events with their Korean members)
What I'd like from the group:
I would like meet ups to occur 2-4x a month (we work hard and we also play hard). If there are fewer than 6 RSVPs I will cancel the meet up so please make sure you RSVP if you are interested in coming to one. (No sitting on the fence until the last minute please) This is to help with booking restaurants / second round venues etc.
RSVPS are COMPULSORY for all meet ups. Yes I said it. If you get invited to someone's house dinner party - you don't not give them an answer and turn up for dinner. It is the same thing here. Every meet up I organize is a personal invitation to each and every one of you - so I request an RSVP. Anybody who RSVPs yes but does not turn up more than 2-3 times, anybody who is inactive for more than 3 months will be removed from the group at my discretion.
We'll generally eat family style and bill will be split evenly - so bring cash (just incase the restaurant does not accept multiple credit/debit cards).
There are Koreans living in south bay, peninsula, east bay - so the most central location for all would generally be San Francisco, but we'll try to explore different areas with our meet ups. Meet ups will generally be on a Friday or a Saturday night - so that we can eat & drink the Korean way and not worry about having to work the next day ;p However that's not all we do - we also go out and explore different places, things to do that the bay area has to offer as a group.
I am totally open to suggestions re: venue - I am new to the area so I don't know where everything is. So feel free to email / start a discussion on potential meeting places.
Looking forward to having fun!
