Windows Azure Virtual Machines is an IaaS offering that can be used to host many OSS and Microsoft services including SQL Server. In this session you will see how Windows Azure compute, storage and connectivity works, with a particular emphasis on how they impact your SQL Server deployments. The session will describe how to optimize performance and provide high availability for SQL Server deployed in the virtualized environment provided by Windows Azure.

Neil Mackenzie works for Satory Global, where he has helped many companies migrate onto Windows Azure. He has been using Windows Azure since its public preview in 2008. Neil wrote the Microsoft Windows Azure Development Cookbook and blogs about Windows Azure
