MongoDB at AKQA; Analytics with MongoDB

  • October 11, 2011 · 6:30 PM

This meetup will be hosted by AKQA. A big thanks to them for hosting our meetup! The capacity is more limited than usual, so please RSVP to reserve your spot.

A member of the development team at AKQA will present about how they use MongoDB. We will also have the following talk from Assaf Arkin:

'MySQL to NoSQL to MongoDB'

"In this presentation I'm going to cover our path from MySQL-only to NoSQL-only architecture, why we chose MongoDB and how we use it successfully in production. I'll talk about the implications of performance, keeping business logic outside the database, client-side joins and aggregates, why we don't need transactions, how/when we use advanced features like map/reduce, and how you scale app/database pairs."

Afterwards we'll head to Steff's at 141 2nd St for drinks (on 10gen!).

Great sharing of experience. Learned a few MongoDB tips and tricks. The meetup title "Analytics" was misleading though. I was expecting a deep dive on using map-reduce for calculating various stats.

The mentioned discount code for the MongoSV conference doesn't seem to be working. Maybe I noted it incorrectly. Could you please post the code again?

I second that request. I would have enjoyed attending but have a scheduling conflict.
