MongoDB, Single Page Web Apps and running on SSDs

  • September 18, 2012 · 6:30 PM

We'll have three talks at this months user group

1) Josh Powell of Rocket Fuel will discuss building single page web applications with MongoDB. This talk will introduce how to build modern web based browser applications through taking advantage of server side javascript and MongoDB.

2) Jason McKay, MongoHQ: Running MongoDB on SSDs like Fusion IO. More info ahead!

3) Till Westmann, 28msec: JSONiq - the SQL of NoSQL. JSONiq is an extremely powerful and productive language that is used to build data-intensive applications. For example, it allows you to project, filter, join, group, transform, update, and search JSON data. We will demonstrate how JSONiq can be used to build such applications on top of 28msec's MongoDB-based platform.

We hope to see you there. Please make certain that your full name is on your RSVP for security. Additionally, Kixeye has asked for everyone to please sign an NDA upon arrival to ensure that no intellectual property leaves their gaming studio. Thanks everyone for the cooperation.

The topics are really of high value. Functional languages are emerging and tremendous places where to apply those are here.

Did not touch on the SSD part at all. I wanted to see some ways to program faster/smarter if I was running on SSDs under the hood.

    Hi All,

We had a last minute cancellation from Jason at MongoHQ, but we will have them come back for a future meetup! So for the roster we'll have Josh from Rocket Fuel and Till Westerman from 28ms. Enjoy everyone!

After 6, it should not be a problem, just keep an eye out for the notorious meter maids. http://www.sfmta.com/cms/pmeter...
