McLaren Park: Wednesday Night Loops

This is a recurring weekly group ride, alternating between Tuesday and Wednesday night every week.

~4.5 mile warmup ride down Valencia, Chenery, Silver, Harvard streets from Dolores Park to McLaren Park. Then a loop or two of the McLaren Park

Roughly 14-15 mile ride, with 6-7 miles of trails. The trails are all legal, including some moderately technical singletrack.

Bring: helmet, good lights (that actually light up the trail), and a spare tube (correct for your wheels) at minimum. The trails are easy to moderate and not difficult during the day, but this is NOT a beginner ride given the lighting conditions, pace, and short technical sections.

Usually we get a beer or two and something to eat at Zeitgeist after the ride. They have bike parking on the patio, but it's very limited, so bring a lock if you can.

Setting a limit of 10 riders, to make sure we can keep the group together for the entire ride. We'll ride at a social pace, with no rider left behind.

First timers, please ride the group's rider responsibility and liability statement:

Hope to see you out there!

Great ride guys, thanks for coming out! I liked changing it up and doing McLaren, there's some fun flowy trails and the full moon bay + city views are spectacular.

Also, I'm adding polls for Northstar and Downieville now.

And, let me know if any of you want details on the tour de brewers beer tour ride on next Saturday (the 24th) at 12:30. Short, ~10 mile road ride stopping at 5 awesome breweries in SF!

I can't do the 8th, but possibly the 22nd. Planning to camp, get a room, day trip? I'm always down to ride some cross. Golden Gate Park is also pretty good for cx trails.

Note that you can alternately meet us in McLaren park by the water tower at around 7:45, if you don't want to ride to the trails from Dolores Park.

Will it really take 45 min to get there?

      May 14, 2014

    • Ryan L.

Nope, it takes more like 20 minutes, just didn't want to rush it the first time in case we didn't go the best route.

Great riding with you all last night. Here's one of the cyclocross races I did at Candlestick. It's small and flat, but it's dirt: http://www.strava.com/activities/90266653

Cool, looks like it wouldn't be too far to link to from McLaren and possibly throw in the hill park in between
