Networking Tips from a ‘Super Connector’

Got Work? Aspire for more? SFPCN is starting an evening series that will focus on assisting currently working individuals to grow as professionals and attain career success. We envision a monthly evening series that will bring value to attendees by combining quality speakers with opportunities for re-connection and networking.

Speakers for this evening series will address the interests of those with work, whereas the daytime series will continue to address the interests of those looking for work. Of course, those currently looking for work will also get value from the evening series and are welcome to attend.

We are happy to kick off this new evening series with George Parrish. George is a local “super networker” who has spoken at SFPCN and inspired us to develop networks that work.

Networking is a key part of career advancement and reaching the next rung on your ladder. In an interactive session that will have you testing and refining your networking skills immediately, George delivers an engaging career (and life) retrospective that will give you a fresh perspective on the value of networking. He will share valuable lessons and tips that could only come from a journey of more than 20 years, transitioning from arts, education and the corporate world.

George's message will highlight the need to get out of your comfort zone as you learn to incorporate these practices:

• The 25% - 75% Dilemma
• Finding your Passion – Important or Not So Important
• Approach and "break the ice" with total strangers
• Gain access to and GET the attention of C-level Executives
• Assess the number and types of events that can grow your list of connections

From this presentation, members will:

get back in touch with networking and learn some new tips.
• have a chance to discuss and practice networking in the room.
• discuss ways to put some of these tips into action in their lives.
• view networking as a lifestyle.

Arrive ready for an interactive session that will have you testing and refining your networking skills immediately!

It was great. George walks his talk. I learned as much by watching him move through the room as I did listening to him.

Rats. I'm at an Oracle event in SF and not sure I can make this event. I also have a financial services start up event in SF signed up for.

Anyway, George Parrish is the man. I went to two of his events already and never get tired of his networking expertise. He's a good resource.

As the author of, "I'm at a Networking Event--Now What???" I now have this event on my calendar. Always enjoying learning how other "connectors" approach networking for biz or career!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
