The Value of Networking - 20 Years of Lessons They Don't Teach At School or Work

  • Sep 17, 2013 · 9:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Welcome back George ParrishSuper Networker, easily SFPCN’s most popular speaker. Consistently, George inspires us to develop networks that work.

Could networking be a secret formula for career advancement? Could it be the next rung on your ladder? How much better would it be if your very own definition of "success" could also be revealed and refined from that same activity of meeting other professionals, decision makers and corporate executives?

Take advantage of the opportunity this week to practice some of George Parrish's tips with an exercise to get us out of our comfort zone. In an interactive session that will have you testing and refining your networking skills immediately, George delivers an engaging career (and life) retrospective that will give you a fresh perspective on the value of networking. He will share valuable lessons and tips that could only come from a journey of more than 20 years, transitioning from arts, education and the corporate world.

George's message will highlight the need to get out of your comfort zone as you learn to incorporate these practices:

• The 25% - 75% Dilemma
• Finding your Passion – Important or Not So Important
• Approach and "break the ice" with total strangers
• Gain access to and GET the attention of C-level Executives
• Assess the number and types of events that can grow your list of connections

From this presentation, members will:

• get back in touch with networking and learn some new tips.
• have a chance to discuss and practice networking in the room.
• discuss ways to put some of these tips into action in their lives.
• view networking as a lifestyle.

Arrive ready for an interactive session that will have you testing and refining your networking skills immediately.

Presenter Biography

George Parrish has successfully sold software and IT solutions to clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to many small and medium-sized businesses during a career spanning more than 20 years. His product portfolio has included ERP, Enterprise Content Management (ECM), mainframe, Telecom, and check processing software as well as hardware solutions. More recently he has been working with entrepreneurs, writers, and public speakers in the media communications industry: assisting with business planning, exposing them to VC capitalization, and helping launch their projects in the marketplace. George believes that tales of overnight stardom are best left in Hollywood while those intent on lasting success keep on networking.

I've seen George Parrish speak and he's definitely, as Mark Sackett at the Art of Active Networking has said, "The godfather of networking." Definitely good insight.
