I have a PhD in Chinese History from Berkeley and then took core undergraduate coursework in computer science, so software engineering has been a second career for me. I worked for Sybase in Emeryville the late 1990s, then for a Java startup in San Francisco. and most recently for Brocade in San Jose, where I worked for 8 years on testing and development teams for storage network management applications. Responsibilities have included software application and tools development, system testing and test automation, troubleshooting and defect management, UI design and documentation, release cycle coordination, and hands-on configuration and management of Brocade switching hardware. I am a competent Java programmer with good organization and communication skills, and I enjoy working with complex systems in a team environment.
Testing, development or support role on a small software team in the SF/Berkeley/Oakland area.
Networking to hear of opportunities for the kind of work I am looking for, share experiences, provide advice and support.
Yes, I agree.
I am a software engineer living in Berkeley, trying to re-start my career after having been laid off from Brocade in San Jose in September 2011. I am near retirement but would like to keep working on software projects.
