As a Jew, I appreciate the thought and sensitivity of your message re the Jewish holiday of Channukah.
BTW, I've been trying to get hold of you (by email). On one of your weekly announcements I noticed that the contraction it's (as in it is) was used instead of the possessive its. A common error.
Thought I should bring it to your attention. Hope you don't mind.

Subject: [SFPCN] Oversight on Holiday Gathering scheduling
It has been brought to my attention that the night of our Holiday Gathering is the first night of Hannukah. I was unaware of this when I choose Dec 20th as the date. Having said that, I also could have been more thorough in making use of information to help myself make more inclusive choices.
I apologize for this mistake for two reasons; 1) it puts people who honor this holiday in a position of missing our community event and 2) it demonstrates a lack of sensitivity and understanding to diverse communities.
I thought about rescheduling the party but decided against it due to the planning efforts already in place and the time we have at our disposal.
I hope to enjoy the company of many of you on Dec 20th. For those of you who will instead be involved in Hannukah rituals I wish you a blessed holiday.
