Yo, let's have a chill Friday by catching a flick, grabbing some drinks/grub & then ending the night with horrible (errr fantastic) karaoke!
Contrary to popular belief, I'm game for activities other than dancing and partying (like a mad man).
Movie: Fruitvale Station @ 9:30PM! Check out the killer reviews: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/fruitvale_station/
Movie Pre-Meet: Let's first meet up at the Metreon Food Court at about 8:30PM or so. We can grub, grab a coffee (or drink) and kick it before the movie starts. It would be weird to first meet inside the theater.
Where's the flick!? AMC Metreon 16 (135 4th Street)
How to Find the group: I'll be sporting a brown hat chilling in the middle of the food court. We will head into the movie theater around 9:05PM-9:10PMish.
Google Voice: Sent to all those that RSVP'd by late night 7/11/13.
Twitter Feed: https://twitter.com/SFRandoms
After Event: Bar hop and/or straight to Pandora Karaoke (177 Eddy St.) ! If you can't make the movie, join after for some drinks & cheesy tunes.
FYI: Movie is less than 90 minutes and is supposed to be a tear jerker. Perfect reason to head out after and sing some 80's ballads with still enough time to head back on BART (if you're coming from the East Bay or South Bay)
Let me know if you have any concerns and see you all Friday evening!
Synopsis: FRUITVALE STATION follows the true story of Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan), a 22-year-old Bay Area resident who wakes up on the morning of December 31, 2008 and feels something in the air. Not sure what it is, he takes it as a sign to get a head start on his resolutions: being better son to his mother (Octavia Spencer), whose birthday falls on New Year's Eve, being a better partner to his girlfriend Sophina (Melonie Diaz), who he hasn't been completely honest with as of late, and being a better father to Tatiana (Ariana Neal), their beautiful four year-old daughter. Crossing paths with friends, family and strangers, Oscar starts out well, as the day goes on, he realizes that changes are not going to come easily. His resolve takes a tragic turn, however, when BART officers shoot him in cold blood at the Fruitvale subway stop on New Year's Day. Oscar's life and tragic death would shake the Bay Area - and the entire nation - to its very core.
The Powell BART Station is only a few blocks away! If that doesn't work for you, there is parking @ the Metreon (enter through Mission St.), http://www.fifthandmission.com/prices.htm and probably along the SOMA streets (meters free in the evening)!
