SF Street food festival in the Mission, La Cocina 5th annual

  • August 17, 2013 · 1:00 PM

Last minute activity, and was wondering if anyone was going too and would like to go together.

From the website...
La Cocina’s San Francisco Street Food Festival brings all of the best food (and music) in the Bay Area to one street, once a year, to celebrate the talent, the taste and the entrepreneurial spirit of people who make a living doing what they love to do.

Of course there is an app for the event "SF Street Food Festival"

HOW MUCH IS IT TO GET IN THE FESTIVAL?

The event is free, but is a fundraiser for La Cocina, so donations are encouraged at the door for those that are able to give.

All festival proceeds benefit La Cocina’s business incubator program. Food vendors will only be accepting cash or pre-purchased passport tickets. "Passports" are $32.49.

LOCATION/DIRECTIONS

********We can meet at Folsom and 26th street at 1pm. My contact #[masked]*********

WHERE IS THE FESTIVAL, YOU ASK?

The Festival will take place in the Mission District from 11 a.m until 7p.m on Folsom St. from 20th to 26th, 21st and 25th from Treat St. to Shotwell St., as well as the Cesar Chavez Elementary School parking lot, Parque de los Ninos Unidos and Jose Coronada Playground.

AND HOW DO I GET THERE?

Skydiving, paddleboat, lawnchair with a million balloons…but these methods are probably safer:

BART: 24th St Bart Station

MUNI: 12, 14, 14L, 27, 48, 67

BIKE: thank you SF Bike Coalition for providing monitored bike parking located on 22nd St. between Folsom St. and Treat St.

You have your info on the passports wrong. The 32.49 gets you only that much in food. It is not an unlimited pass. I personally will bring cash, but if someone doesn't like to carry cash, the passport makes sense.

Yeah, I'm not sure how because it only gives you "street bucks".

The larger the passport, the larger the savings. For $30 + 2.49, it's actually less than said value in food, but 1 drink token is free (beer = 1, cocktail = 2), so assuming usual festival prices, that's a lil savings. For $160 + 8.99, get $180 in food + 6 drink tokens. The passport may be shared and I would love to do that with a group! I have had vanilla ice cream with baked meal worms (much better than expected) and rose milk and basil seed drink among other unusual items in past years!
