National Karaoke Week -- in SF (with SFBA Karaoke Grp)

It's that time of the year again: National Karaoke Week (4th week in April)! Let's celebrate by singing (and then singing some more)!

Pandora is a fun bar/lounge in downtown SF (pretty close to Powell BART). On Friday nights karaoke begins at 6pm with happy hour prices between 6-8pm for well drinks. As far as free karaoke lounges go, Pandora has a great atmosphere and typically brings in a supportive crowd.

Maybe you have other plans on a Friday night? Stop in a for a drink, and maybe a song, on your way to another event. Typically early Friday nights are pretty tame, which = lots of singing! Later in the night things amp up, bringing more of a party-like vibe to karaoke.

If national karaoke week isn't enough to get you off the couch or out and about, maybe you can come and celebrate National Administrative Assistants week or Stress Awareness month instead! What better way is there to get rid of stress than coming out to sing?!

Question: if I get to the city around 7pm is there still a chance of meeting up?

Yes. Most people tend to trickle in rather than all arriving at 6pm. Usually we stay 3-4 hours, with some people coming in late and others leaving when they need to.

Sounds fun! How do I find the group?

If you get there right around 6pm you can find me at the bar. Once a few people have arrived, we move to one of the lounge seating (which is right next to the bar). If you can't spot us right away, ask the KJ (karaoke DJ) or one of the bartenders to point you in my direction. I am a regular at Pandora, so most of them know who I am. But I do try to keep an eye on the door and if I recognize someone from their picture or think they are in the group then I will typically go up and greet them.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
