Last minute event set up for a relaxing day at the park. Let's watch some good old "free" live music by checking out the Hardly Strictly Festival at Golden Gate Park! If we get a good group going, I might bring my cooler filled with beer awesomeness!!
What: It's picnic style (& BYOB) but there are also food vendors at the "Bluegrass" festival! I know nothing about Bluegrass, but whatever...it's music, it's laid back and again it's FREE!!! It's supposed to be really big, so why not!!
To find the group: Let's all try to first meet at the Porch Stage and catch Little Green Cars from 1:25PM - 2:10PM. Look again for those darn Green Balloons!!! My number was sent out to the RSVPrs!
Schedule Here: http://www.hardlystrictlybluegrass.com/2012/print-at-home/HSB12_schedule.pdf
We can slowly make our way across each stage...and I will post a sign/symbol/marker here on this web page once I figure it all out. I will also send contact info via email to those who RSVP'd!
Hardly Strictly Festival: Bluegrass | Golden Gate Park
Location: Hellman Hollow (aka Speedway Meadow) @ Golden Gate Park (Transverse and JFK Drives)
Date: Saturday October 6, 2012 (Technically, festival runs from 10AM-7PMish. Come whenever, then join the group)
Who's Playing: A ridiculous amount of musicians will be performing. More info on artists here: http://www.hardlystrictlybluegrass.com/2012/print-at-home/HSB12_bios.pdf
Event Map: http://www.hardlystrictlybluegrass.com/2012/print-at-home/HSB12_map.pdf We can groove and chill...and even if the music isn't awesome, we can relax, drink, eat and be merry!. Also, there will be random booths, activities and definitely food trucks at the event!!
Possible After Event: Depends if people still want to do something after (or leave early) such as grab dinner, karaoke, dance in the Mission, or even catch part of Fleet Week!
What we need to do:
Meet Up: Try to start trickling in around the same time (1:30PM - 2:15ish at least) at the Porch Stage to make it easy to find each other. I will post regularly the whereabouts of the group over the course of the festival. Note: The concert is free, does not sell out, and will happen rain or shine!!! So, get off your buttocks & head to the park!!!
Bring Stuff: Picnic blankets, low-to-floor seats, games/playing cards, snacks, drinks (incl. beer!!!), jackets and/or hats & sunscreen (pending weather), & some positive energy for sharing.
Have Fun: Dance it up if the music is rocking, finish all the food, act like Bluegrass is darn amazing, and relax with good people!
Parking: Based on my horrible experience last week, try to avoid parking around GG Park! If you have to, following places are available: Paid parking is available (first come first serve) at the following school parking lots:

Presidio[masked]th Avenue @ Geary Boulevard [enter on 29th Ave]

Argonne[masked]th Avenue @ Cabrillo [enter on 17th Avenue]
George Washington High School -[masked]nd Ave. [enter at 30th Ave. & Anza]
MUNI: Extra MUNI service will run from 10 AM to 8 PM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Northside of Park - people going to HSB should look for the buses with the 5L on the signage as this will be a limited stop bus and will be a much faster trip out to the Park. The SFMTA will be running the 5L which will leave from Grove and Larkin (outside of the Civic Center BART/MUNI Station) where it will drop off passengers at 30th & Fulton Returning, people can pick up the 5L on Fulton between 25th and 30th Avenues and be dropped off at Hyde & Fulton, just a short block away from the Civic Center Station Southside of the Park - SFMTA will be running extra N Judah LRV service which will go from Caltrain at King & Second Streets to the end of the line at the Beach and return.
